Varietal(s): 60% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache, 10% Cinsault

Country: France

Region: Provence

Appellation: Bandol

Nose: Dark fruit, cassis, plum, dark cherry, with some leather and spice

Palate: Powerful and juicy, perfectly balanced. Lots of dark cherries and plum, some meaty, iron notes and a touch of dank earth. Medium bodied, with just the right bit of lip smacking acidity and prominent tannic structure

Winemaking Notes: Organically farmed. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in open-top cement vats. Aged 18 months in large neutral oak foudres. Unfined and unfiltered

Producer Notes: La Tour du Bon is located in the northwestern corner of Bandol, where it has been farmed by the Hocquard family since 1925. Agnes Henry is the current proprietor: she farms organically and practices biodynamics and uses a hands off approach to all her wines

Area Notes: Bandol is a seaside AOC located in the south of Provence. It is one of southern France’s most celebrated regions, and where late-ripening Mourvedre really shines. Warm coastal climates and silicon/limestone soils both highlight the incredible power and elegance of this varietal
