Nose: Morello cherry, juicy blackberry, some notes of violet. Tar, seaweed, raspberry, wild strawberry. Spicy and balsamic

Palate: Plush and mouthfilling, ripe fruit, velvety tannins. Black fruit with a slightly meaty tinge. Some tobacco, touch of chocolate on the back end. Bright Barbera acidity tidies things up.

Winemaking Notes: Certified organic as of 2019. All fermentations carried out in concrete tanks. Aged 10 months, 70% in stainless steel, 30% in Slovenian oak, blended and aged in bottle 6 months.

Producer Notes: Borgogno is the oldest house in Piedmont and is synonymous with the region. It was founded in 1761, pre-unification of Italy. In fact, their Barolo was chosen in 1861 for the official dinner celebrating said unification.

Area Notes: Alba is an important part of the Piedmontese wine landscape. It includes the town of Alba and the surrounding Lange hills, and overlaps with Barolo and Barbaresco. Rolling hills of limestone-rich chalky clay soils dominate the landscape. Barbera is the 3rd most planted grape in Italy, after Sangiovese and Montepulciano.
