Nose: Fruity and mineral notes, creamy structure. Pineapple and butter toast. White pepper, white stone fruit, freshly cut grass, apricot and slight anise. Lemon peel and thyme
Palate: Medium-full, medium acid. Clean and fruity. Gentle white fruit, fleshy peach and apricot. Definite honeyed character. Mediterranean, mineral and limestone soil, chalky and saline.
Winemaking Notes: Organic farming. Single vineyard fruit. Hand harvested, destemmed and cold pressed. Fermented in 5000L stainless with frequent pumping over and batonnage. Aged 6 months on lees.
Producer Notes: Morell family run on the outskirts of Tarragona. East facing, chalky clay soils. Lumaquela sediment infuses their vineyards: limestone sediment from fossilized seashells and calcareous cement. Provides rich nutrients to soil. Vineyard property was recovered and refurbished starting in 1989. 2km away from the sea. 9 different vineyards, all 20m above sea level. Certified sustainable by CCPAE.
Area Notes: Catalunya D.O. is a large designation encompassing some 40km2 of vineyards otherwise unclassified among Catalonian wine. The region is Spain’s second largest producer of wine, and is the birthplace of Cava in 1872. Mediterranean climate: warm with moderate rainfall near the coast, drier the further inland you move.
