Nose: Orange marmalade, passionfruit, Mandarin orange, guava, fresh cut grass, slight jalapeno
Palate: Slight barnyard, with lime, grass, beeswax and some gooseberry. Clean and crisp, balanced acid, decent chalky tannins.
Winemaking Notes: Destemmed, spontaneously fermented, aged for 63 days on skins in 40% clay amphorae and 60% stainless steel. Racked, and bottled with one minimal sulphur addition at bottling. Unfined, unfiltered.
Producer Notes: Leaning Post are a small producer from Winnipeg who started out as a virtual winery 10 years ago, and as of recently own their own space and vineyards. Innovative and experimental winemakers, constantly pushing the envelope.
Area Notes: Niagara Lakeshore extends along Lake Ontario for some 3km. The presence of the lake helps to moderate its temperatures, and its long, gentle slopes have tons of sun exposure. It has a long growing season, ideal for late-ripening varietals
