Herbal and mineral-driven orange wine from a traditional Slovenian winery that makes low intervention wines with local grapes

Nose: Powerful and aromatic: dried yellow fruit, hay and herbal notes

Palate: Full bodied, with firm tannins and dried orchard fruit, apricot and citrus. Lots of savoury herbaceous notes

Winemaking Notes: Organic, biodynamic and hand harvested. Naturally fermented in neutral oak, with 14 days skin contact. Aged 9 months in fermentation vessels, bottled unfined and unfiltered with zero added sulfur

Producer Notes: Started in 1985, the Stekar family winery is a 10ha operation that converted to organic viticulture in the early 2000s. They focus on Slovenian varietals, with minimal use of oak and minimal sulfur

Area Notes: On the northeastern Italian border, at the foothills of the Alps and 15 miles from the Adriatic sits the Goriška Brda region of Slovenia. This area of Slovenia is a border zone that was once part of the Hapsburg empire, and the hilly, rugged terrain is marked with monuments to both world wars
