Juicy, crunchy, slightly funky Gamay, bursting with fruit and energy.

Producer: Pearl Morissette

Varietal(s): 100% Gamay Noir

Country: Canada

Region: Niagara

Appellation: Lincoln Lakeshore

Nose: Bright, crunchy red fruit, cherries and strawberries, orange pekoe tea. Slightly funky on the nose

Palate: Medium bodied, medium acidity. Bright red fruit, cherries and strawberries, touch of licorice on finish, slight effervescence out of the bottle

Winemaking Notes: Whole cluster fermented in concrete with indigenous yeast. Aged 8 months on lees in concrete egg and neutral oak, racked and aged another 2.5 months in stainless steel. Bottled unfined and unfiltered

Producer Notes: Pearl Morissette has been spearheading the low-intervention wine movement in Niagara since their founding. They farm organically (although without the certification) and use no new oak, fermenting and aging in stainless steel, concrete and neutral wood. Their wines are true expressions of Niagara terroir, choosing to celebrate their origin rather than emulate the wines of Europe

Area Notes: Lincoln Lakeshore stretches along the shore of Lake Ontario for around 18km. The lake has a strong temperature moderating effect, and leads to constantly circulating air over the region. A long, even growing period results
