Varietals: Rabigato, Viosinho, Gouveio

Country:  Portugal

Region: Douro

Nose: Ripe citrus, grapefruit, some white flowers and white peach.

Palate: Medium bodied, with grapefruit, white flowers and a touch of oak with some vanilla notes. Crisp, mineral driven finish.

Winemakeing Notes: Hand-harveested grapes from 20 yea old vines. Fermented in stainless steel, aged in new and neutral oak. No racking takes place: all wine is aged on the lees.

Producer Notes: Carvalho Martins is a 4th generation winemaker in the upper Douro.

Area Notes: The Douro is likely Portugal's most well-known winemaking region, having first made its name internationally with the production of Port. However, Douro produces an equal amount of unfortified table wine, which has been gaining the attention of wine enthusiasts lately. Its terraced vineyards, winding along both sides of the Douro river, are considered to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
