Funky, saline medium bodied beauty. Lots of blackberry fruit, with graphite and black olive to back it up.
Nose: Wild berries, smoke, earth and herbs. Think eucalyptus and mossy forest floor
Palate: Fresh and under ripe berries, with herbs and salty, briny undertones. Medium bodied, with fantastic complexity and a lingering finish.
Winemaking Notes: Organic and biodynamic, with little to no sulfur added. Natural fermentation, unfined and unfiltered. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in large neutral oak barrels.
Producer Notes: These guys are fairly new to the game: brothers Juan and Carlos Rodriguez have teamed up with Fredi Torres, a wine maker born in the region who has gained notoriety in Priorat and Montsant.
Area Notes: Ribeira Sacra is notable for its steeply sloped valleys. Silice is farmed from vineyards on slopes so steep that special rope elevators must be used to transport harvested grapes back to the winery. Granite soils and harsh conditions help breed grapes of character.
