Fresh, crisp Sicilian white, with an aromatic, expressive nose and a mineral driven palate.
Nose: Fruity and expressive: lots of pear and orchard fruit, with some white flowers and a hint of vanilla.
Palate: Fresh and focused, with good acid and a nice linear mineral note. Lots of citrus and crisp, crunchy pear and apple. Some soft creamy notes on the mid-palate from malolactic fermentation.
Winemaking Notes: Organic grapes, hand picked and fermented with indigenous yeasts, aged in stainless steel.
Producer Notes: A small co-op of organic, biodynamic farmers in North Eastern Sicily. They farm almonds and olives, also biodynamically. They have a social mandate as well: all of their products are certified 'mafia free', and a portion of their profits go to at-risk youth in Sicily.
Area Notes: Soils in this area of Sicily are mixed calcareous and clay. These vines are located up to 500m above sea level, which gives them some relief from the typically very hot weather in Sicily, allowing for leaner, crisper wines.
