Fresh, juicy and expressive Priorat. Unoaked, the mineral-driven Garnacha shows violets and garrigue

Varietal(s): 45% Garnacha, 35% Cinsault, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Syrah

Country: Spain

Region: Catalunya

Appellation: Priorat

Nose: Fresh red fruit, balsamic, cocoa, hints of violet, fennel, laurel and garrigue

Palate: Fresh, unoaked and inviting. Red berries, flowers, garrigue and minerality. Crisp and linear, great acidity, long finish. Very approachable and ready to drink as far as Priorat goes

Winemaking Notes: Hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel and aged in stainless and concrete vats for 8 months. Gently fined, then further aged in bottle for 1 year before release

Producer Notes: Meritxell Palleja is relatively new to the winemaking scene in Priorat, though she has winemaking in her blood. After working in Burgundy and California, she spent 18 years working in Priorat before launching her namesake winery in 2000. She works sustainably and biodynamically

Area Notes: Priorat is a small wine region in Catalunya that has rocketed up in popularity in recent decades. It is one of two regions in Spain to hold their top tier DOCa classification (the other is Rioja). The region is known for its blends of old-vine Garnacha and Carinena: yields here are incredibly low, leading to intensely concentrated, high quality wines
