100% syrah
Northern Rhone, France

Nose: Blue and black fruits, black cherries and violets with some whiffs of spice

Palate: Cassis, fresh cherry, dried rose, allspice and tobacco. Dusty, supple tannins, medium body, medium acidity. Delicate and nuanced.

Winemaking Notes: Organic and biodynamic practices. Fermented whole cluster, using native yeasts, in large neutral oak barrels. Foot stomped, and pressed off using old basket presses. Very old school.

Producer Notes: Benoit Roseau grew up on the Northern Rhone and worked as a winemaker for various estates for many years. He began making his own wine in 2010, literally building his business from the ground up by converting a sheep shelter into a cellar and planting his own vines around his families home.

Area Notes: Saint-Joseph is the largest, and one of the most well-known, of the appellations of the Northern Rhône. As with most other appellations in the area, it is famous for its Syrah. The climate is continental, with cold wet winters marked by the mistral winds that can last into spring.
